Why does America idolize overworking?

Really though..

Why do we live in a world that thinks overworking to the point of burnout is a cool trend?

If you ask 100 people and this is just a guess on my end…I bet you only 20% of those people would say that it’s actually worth the money. We all have to start from the bottom we all have to start somewhere and we have to work really hard to get to where we want to be and that’s with anything in life…but at the same time life is meant to be lived.

Life is short. We need to have play and rest. Besides, sometimes resting is the most productive thing that we can do to recalibrate. When a computer gets too hot, it needs to cool down. As humans, we are the same!

Sometimes in order to rest, we feel like we need to be productive first, but that’s not always the case. This doesn’t mean it’s okay to be lazy 5 out of 7 days of the week either. If you’re having an off week, take 1-2 days to truly rest. If your life doesn’t allow you to have any time to rest, evaluate why and how you can change it

If we’re feeling tired and overwhelmed, we need to start taking breaks. If we don’t take breaks, our body is going to shut down for us and that’s why we get sick and to top it off, your immune system is shot so now it takes more time to recover.

That’s why our cortisol and anxiety spikes to the point that we have no choice but to manage it. So what if we just managed it all the time?

Our minds need to be quiet so we can hear what’s on the inside. Our mind, body, spirit, they are all crying for help and half of us are completely unaware until it tells us. We get down. Once we feel better, we work ourselves to death until it happens again.

If you’re living on auto-pilot every day of your life, you’re not truly living and is that really a life that you want to be living every day?
