Why just losing 10 pounds doesn’t work

Every year, I hear people say the same thing:

“I just want to lose 10–15 pounds for summer.”

But here’s the question—why just for summer?

Why not feel confident and healthy all year long?

The truth is, we need to stop thinking in short-term seasons and start building a lifestyle that actually supports the body we want forever.

Here’s the mistake most people make:

They start eating way too little, cut everything out, and say tracking macros or calories is “too obsessive.”

But in my experience, tracking actually gave me freedom.

I don’t beat myself up if I’m not perfect. I aim for mostly whole foods, I stay within my macros, and I still enjoy something sweet or fun every day. And guess what? I’ve made more progress this way than when I was trying to “diet.”

Let’s talk about “cheat meals.”

I don’t believe in them.

Because the second you label food as a “cheat,” you’re setting yourself up to binge. That one cheat meal turns into a whole weekend spiral, and suddenly all your progress feels ruined—not because you “messed up,” but because you restricted too much.

What’s working for me now:

I’ve been lifting for years, but I’ve made mistakes. I’m still learning.

Right now I’m focused on eating more whole foods, getting enough protein, building muscle, and cutting body fat slowly in a way that feels sustainable.

I want to reach a point where maintaining my body feels effortless—not extreme. That doesn’t mean it’s easy. It means it’s livable.

If you care enough to lose weight for the summer…

Why not care enough to change your life?

You only get one body. Treat it like the machine it is—fuel it, maintain it, love it.

I don’t want to get old and feel restricted by my health. I want to live fully, move freely, and love the way I feel—for every season, not just summer.
