Are you doing the inner work?

The healing journey never ends, it’s never a one way stop to the top. It’s a bunch of dips, hills and valleys. At one point we must look within and get to the root of our reactiveness and way we feel or view certain things that feel very unpleasant.

There’s a big controversy on reflecting the past, never looking back, and moving forward. My viewpoint is that it’s very important to lightly reflect on the past in order to see how far we’ve come, without getting stuck in it. It’s almost like setting a timer for 20 minutes and spending a lot of intense time in it and when the timer shuts off, we give ourselves permission to let go of the past so we can bungee back into the future. I do this in my daily life too, with chores so I don’t get distracted doing other mindless tasks and lose track of time.

Our top goal with doing the inner work is to grow and create the future we desire for ourselves. Sometimes in order to do that, we must let go of any negative attachments, strings, blockages from the past. Saying, “I give myself permission to move forward. I take the black space that is now empty and fill it with God’s divine light and love.”

We all have an inner child that needs love and care. Hugging yourself and telling yourself the things you needed to hear as a child is so powerful for your soul. We all have childhood traumas that do come with us into adulthood. If you take a step back, tons of adults do act like children when they’re mad or upset.

Sometimes healing our inner selves is as simple as doing something you used to love doing as a child. Dance, sing, journal, draw, paint, color, fly a kite, dig in the dirt, run and jump around, tap your body like you’re lightly hitting yourself. All of these things release tension within your body physically and emotionally. It’s not always journaling or meditating, but it can be whatever you want it to be.

Give yourself some silence, I bet you realizations and creative juices will flow to you that never normally do. We never allow our minds to be truly still. It won’t be easy, but so worth it. I would rather be a little uncomfortable temporarily if it leads to true authentic love and happiness vs. feeling uncomfortable for the rest of my life.

I’m not making this website and blog to say I have it all figured out. Sometimes I get pulled off track too…but I know some tools to help bring me back on track. It’s just life. I take what I know and share with you hoping it will help somebody.

With light and love, Mandi
